Trainees / Apprentices

Full time, permanent positions, working 37.5 hours per week; Mon – Thurs 08:00-16:30 and Fri 08:00-13:30. Modern manufacturing workplace with on-site parking and canteen. Westbury welcomes local and regional applicants. Our factory is within 2 min drive to M1, J21 motorway and 10 min walk to Narborough train station.
  • Aged 16-21 and have an interest in mechanical / electrical engineering
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take on board instructions
  • Hard working, good communicator and can use own initiative
  • Reliable, energetic and self-motivated with an ability to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Polite, confident and friendly manner
  • Qualifications required – Maths, English, Science (GCSE grade C or above)
  • College day release course opportunities available to the right candidate

    Test Engineers

    • Test and inspection of control panels and assembled electrical units
    • Fault finding completed (built, wired and assembled) control panels
    • Identifying potential problems with the design and build of control panels
    • Follow and execute test procedures using software and hardware
    • Create accurate records and documentation of all test procedures and outcomes
    • Maintain quality control procedures whilst adhering to safe working practices
    • Liaising activities with production and engineering teams

      • Working for the Stores Supervisor in a busy manufacturing environment
      • Sort, check and accurately store all received items in their allocated space
      • Timely and effective preparation and issue of materials for shop floor distribution
      • Take delivery of stock, ensuring accuracy of deliveries and associated documentation
      • Preparation of goods for despatch including wrapping, labelling and handling

        Purchasing Officer

        • Involvement in the running of the MRP system from WinMan software
        • Placing of purchase orders
        • Maintaining accurate inbound delivery dates on WinMan software
        • Liaising with Production, Engineering and Stores regarding components and deliveries
        • Control of free issue items to suppliers and / or customers
        • Consistent compliance with Quality, OTIF and cost performance targets
        • Ensuring that Winman is up to date and reflects the current trading conditions including lead times, ordering quantities, and pricing
        • Achieving best value and ensuring continuous improvement

          • Mechanical fitting out of control panels with back plates, enclosures, door fixtures and fittings and fascias
          • Maintaining a consistent high standard of workmanship throughout
          • Liaising with production team regarding any build issues
